GARDNER — Local motorcycle enthusiasts interested in going green don’t have to travel very far to take a look at the most popular brand of electric two-wheeled vehicles in the country.
Energica of New England, which was opened two years ago by Robert Swartz at 45 Fredette St., is the only dealership in New England offering the fastest-growing electric motorcycle brand in the world.
Rob Swartz has a simple mission statement for each of his motorcycle businesses: “Make every client’s next ride their best one.” He is often referred to as the “Motorcycle Marriage Counselor” since his client’s most frequent compliment is… “You made me fall in love with my bike all over again.”
Swartz was 8 when his father’s friend taught him how to drive a 1925 Model T and said, “Take some laps kid.” Barely able to grasp both sides of the steering wheel or reach the pedals, Swartz proceeded to do exactly as instructed, driving countless circles around a rural airfield till the Speedster’s tank ran dry.
