The Challenge

WHAT IS IT?

Two riders to attempt breaking the Cannonball cross-country electric motorcycle record of 178 hours and 17 minutes piloting Energica electric motorcycles. Both riders will simultaneously ride coast-to-coast in opposite directions following the 2,906-mile route of the original Cannonball Run, creating a unique “race within a race.” 

WHere?

Following the 1971 Cannonball tradition, the Challenge starts at New York City's Red Ball Garage and finishes at Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach (and vice versa) for both riders. 

WHo

Rob Swartz, Energica of New England and Rob’s Dyno Service owner, will take the westward route from NYC to Redondo Beach. Steven Day, current cross-country record holder, will run the eastward route.

WHen

Start April 18 with finish-line completion April 22 - EARTH DAY.

WHy?

• Change American consumer perceptions on viability of electric vehicles.
• Drive awareness of growing size of national EV charging station network.
• Demonstrate superiority of Energica electric motorcycles vs. competitors and internal combustion powered brands
